Kaleidoscope Collection and RadCakes in Paper

The August 19th edition of The Coast Star featured an article about the upcoming Kaleidoscope Collection event. RadCakes’ Lauren Dalrymple was photographed drawing on a surfboard shaped by Bruce Campbell. The surfboard will be on display and available for purchase at the event on Sunday. On Sunday, August 22nd, make your way to the the Belmar Arts Center for the Kaleidoscope Collection. Hosted by the Belmar Arts Council, this special event is sponsored by RadCakes and SummerTime Surf and it will feature exhibits & performances by local artists. There will be a half pipe built on location, along with live music by Brick + Mortar. RadCakes will also have new limited edition apparel for sale at this event. So get there early before it sells out! And when the event is over, keep the party going at 507 Main. They are offering drink specials for everyone coming from the Kaleidoscope Collection. Below is the event mission statement:

Kaleidoscope Collection is a one-night event in celebration of the Southern Monmouth summer of 2010. Included in the exhibit are artists and performers who have come to know and love this wonderful place that we call home. Kaleidoscope Collection is a mixed media event exhibiting art, music, design and film in an attempt to capture the spirit of this place and cultivate creativity among the youth. These artists are unified in their appreciation and understanding of the unique character of the Jersey Shore. This motif is exemplified individually and collectively within their work. Come out and support these artists who have absorbed the energy of the area and responded to it with unique individuality.

Chris Georgalas uses our silkscreens for his new artwork

Artist Chris Georgalas recently purchased a carload of old silkscreens from RadCakes in order to use them for his multimedia works. Above is Goergalas’ piece, “All I Needed to Know in Life I Learned in The Ocean”, which was created with two RadCakes silkscreens. Although it’s difficult to see what the bottom silkscreen was previously used for, you can clearly see that the top silkscreen was used for the SummerTime Surf camper shirts.

On Wednesday, July 14th at 7:30pm, make sure to check out Chris Georgalas’ art opening at John Allan’s Downtown Location in New York City. There will be artwork for sale, live painting, live music, and plenty of recycled RadCakes silkscreens!

In mid-June, the FIT Surf Team made the trek out to California to compete in the NSSA Nationals.

Team Highlights include: Justin and Sebastian made it to the semi-finals. The team placed 8th overall, and finishes the season ranked 2nd on the East Coast in the Collegiate division.

Congrats to everyone for making it out to Cali and for putting in a solid effort. Thanks for asking RadCakes to design and print your T’s!

Empower the Children Fundraiser at Bond St. Bar in Asbury Park, NJ

Please stop by Bond Street bar in Asbury Park, NJ on Saturday, June 26th, to help a great cause: Empower the Children. RadCakes has donated a gift basket that will be raffled off during the event. Other businesses donating gifts that will be raffled off include Summertime Surf Camp, SummerTime Surf Boot Camp, The Porch, 507 Main, Bond Street Bar, The Brickwall Tavern, The Atlantic Club, Lightly Salted Surf Shop, and tons more. Amanda, Jess, and Rachel have helped organize the event after their recent trip to India. While in India, the three volunteered in an orphanage that works closely with Empower the Children. We just completed a new line of band merchandise for We All Fall Down. They will be playing in the second round of The Break Contest at the Stone Pony on Saturday, March 20th, at 8:30pm. These limited edition shirts will be sold exclusively at their merch table the day of the show. We All Fall Down wins The Break Contest!

On Sunday, January 31st, We All Fall Down played at the Stone Pony in The Break Contest. They rocked so hard that the judges selected them as one of the winners to play in the semi-final contest in March. If they do well in the semi-finals, look for them to be on stage at the 2010 Bamboozle Festival.

We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to design and print the band’s merchandise. Pictured below is a band t-shirt being silkscreened and the band’s manager, R-Boy. Who ever thought a new shirt and a cold beer could make someone so happy? We All Fall Down merchandise will be available shortly on RadCakes.
