Before Monica (center, helmet) got hitched, her bridesmaid Caroline (5th from left) asked us to design and print shirts for the bachelorette party. She wanted a design that incorporated her skateboarding bulldog, Buddy. And since the bachelorette party was a bar-to-bar bike crawl in the summer, Caroline requested soft, lightweight V-neck shirts. She decided to have the design printed on American Apparel Tri-Blend Short Sleeve Deep V-Neck T’s (Style TR456). The end result: a fashionable bike crawl with no injuries.

Artist Chris Georgalas recently purchased a carload of old  silkscreens from RadCakes in order to use them for his multimedia works. Above is Goergalas’ piece, “All I Needed to Know in Life I Learned in The Ocean”, which was created with two RadCakes silkscreens. Although it’s difficult to see what the bottom silkscreen was previously used for, you can clearly see that the top silkscreen was used for the SummerTime Surf camper shirts.

On Wednesday, July 14th at 7:30pm, make sure to check out Chris Georgalas’ art opening at John Allan’s Downtown Location in New York City. There will be artwork for sale, live painting, live music, and plenty of recycled RadCakes silkscreens!

In mid-June, the FIT Surf Team made the trek out to California to compete in the NSSA Nationals.

Team Highlights include: Justin and Sebastian made it to the semi-finals. The team placed 8th overall, and finishes the season ranked 2nd on the East Coast in the Collegiate division.

Congrats to everyone for making it out to Cali and for putting in a solid effort. Thanks for asking RadCakes to design and print your T’s!

Please stop by Bond Street bar in Asbury Park, NJ on Saturday, June 26th, to help a great cause: Empower the Children. RadCakes has donated a gift basket that will be raffled off during the event. Other businesses donating gifts that will be raffled off include Summertime Surf Camp, SummerTime Surf Boot Camp, The Porch, 507 Main, Bond Street Bar, The Brickwall Tavern, The Atlantic Club, Lightly Salted Surf Shop, and tons more. Amanda, Jess, and Rachel have helped organize the event after their recent trip to India. While in India, the three volunteered in an orphanage that works closely with Empower the Children. This year, the Florida Institute of Technology  Surf Team qualified for the NSSA National Championships in Dana Point, California. In order to help support the riders, RadCakes is making a $5.00 donation for every Surf Team shirt sold. This donation will help the surfers with their travel expenses. They leave on Monday, so get your order in by Sunday!

This past week, we were asked to design and print four different custom shirt orders. Below are the end results:

For the fourth year in a row, RadCakes has printed the apparel for SummerTime Surf in Belmar, NJ. Owner Shaun McGrath wanted a fun design this summer with various animal mascots. Below is the detail of the octopus surfer.

The second design we printed was for the Skeleton Crew working at Sea Girt Beach. They wanted a design that poked fun at their friend Chris who was rumored to have a diamond earring. Done and done.

The third custom T-shirt order was for an annual birthday bike crawl for Ryan Pace. Pace, a tie connoisseur, was pleased to wear a tie design that didn’t require any tying.

Lastly, Alex Ferencz of the Florida Tech Surf Team, wanted special team shirts for the surfers to wear out in California for the National Surfing Championships. He requested soft, stylish fitting American Apparel shirts for the order. Good luck!
